New Year Updates

The New Year has seen the completion of the drawings for the Clun Castle model and they have now been sent off to Robert Munn, our model-maker, in Glasgow. He now has time to make the castle buildings to be put onto the base which was made sometime ago. During a stormy December we were in Edinburgh for an archaeological conference on making items tactile and took many examples of our work to display there. We also saw Kerry Hammond from Powderhall Bronze who has cast some of our bronze models for us. We also saw David Allan, formerly of Angus Modelmakers who made our very first model of the Glasgow Cathedral Precinct. On this occasion, the Clun Castle model will be made of wood, but there is no reason why it could not be bronze or resin cast at a later date. Topically one of the archive photos that we scanned was of a flooded Clun, probably in the 1940s-50s. This was a frequent annual event until better dredging by the bridge and along the River Clun improved the situation.
